Personal yoga, prerecorded classes or an app: what changes?

The most useful distinction is not online versus offline. It is whether the class is fixed, whether its sequence can adapt to your request, and whether a teacher can observe and respond to you.

A prerecorded class gives you a fixed sequence

You can preview it, replay it and learn a teacher’s style. The same class is available whenever you want it. The trade-off is selection: you choose a video that comes close to what you want, then decide which instructions you can follow. The teacher cannot see you, even when the recording feels personal.

A personal lesson adds a conversation

In a live individual lesson, you can explain your preferences, ask questions and receive a response during the session. What the teacher can observe depends on the format and camera view. Qualifications and teaching approaches vary, so ask how they handle adaptations and what they need to know beforehand. Personal instruction does not automatically mean medical care.

A generated class can adapt the brief

An on-demand system can use your requested duration, pace and movement preferences to shape a sequence. That is a different capability from observing how you perform it. A generated video cannot be assumed to provide real-time correction, instructor review or an individual safety assessment. Check what a service actually offers rather than treating ‘personalized’ as a promise of all three.

Choose the kind of help you need

If you want a familiar session, a saved video may be enough. If you need discussion and feedback as you move, look for a teacher who provides that. If your main frustration is finding a class with the right duration and preferences, a tailored sequence may address that search problem. You can use different formats on different days; there is no need to choose one forever.

What we are building

AsanaFlows is being built around a straightforward request: tell us your goals, time and pace, and receive a guided practice shaped around them. Today you can save that request and ask for access. Current generated examples are not live instruction or medical care. Our founder Vitaliy Filipov practices yoga and has completed 200 hours of yoga teacher training; that does not mean every generated sequence has been reviewed by a qualified instructor.
